Healing balm

Most people grab lip balm when their lips are dry and cracked to revitalize and hydrate them again. That is what it is for, to cover the layer of the skin and hydrate it so it can heal. Now obviously I use my lip balm on my lips to cure them. But I use it to heal cuts, wounds and peeling skin on my body as well. Some people might not realize or find it rather odd, but it does the same effect and a perfectly good job healing wounds on areas of the body other than the lips.

(I do want to recommend that if you use a lip balm for the following problems, to have it designated as a "healing stick" and not using it for your lips and other things at the same time to prevent germs being spread.)

Let's say you have a paper cut on your hand. I would recommend my non-scented lip balm (or scented works just as well), and apply it to the area for a few days until healed. It also works for if you have peeling skin (it's summer time so I am sure we all are experiencing it!), grab a stick and apply to the affected area for a few days to add extra hydration that lotion can't add for you. Another affected area that you could use lip balm as a healing stick is around the cuticle of your nail. You might experience the occasional hangnail or peeled skin around the nail and this surely can do the trick to help treat that!

Because lip balm is oil based, it will lock in the moisture and hydrate all day long! It also helps that it is travel sized and is convenient to take anywhere. The ingredients I use in my lip balm have amazing properties for healing and hydration. Overall it can be used as an all around healing stick for your lips, cuts, wounds, etc. Here is a list of some ingredients and what they do for your skin and wounds.

- Coconut oil: It can be a superhero when it comes to reducing inflammation of the skin and calms any redness the skin might have. (click the link to my blog post about coconut oil and the many properties it has https://www.blondekj.com/post/coconut-oil )

- Grapeseed oil: supports collagen growth due to the vitamin E it contains

- Pomegranate seed oil: reduces the appearance of scarring and promotes the reversal of skin damage

- sunflower seed oil: helps to reduce redness / even out skin tone and texture
